Google Bloomsday: largest public race in the world. Craig and I forged our way, with 54,000 other people, to the finish line. 7.46 miles and we survived. They start you in waves of 5,000, so the first mile I was dodging in and out of people because it literally felt like I was in a herd of cows. It was a lot of fun though...ran it with Molly, Dustin, Craig, and Angela, and 53,955 others! And it definitely felt like there were that many people there. I set a PR (I think)...results will be posted on Tuesday. It was too exciting to handle.

I had to work a graveyard shift and while coming home I was able to watch the sunrise. As I was driving and watching the sunrise at the same time all I could think about was what was happening 2,000 years ago. Jesus was raised! It was a very sobering moment.
I got home at 6:15 am. I pushed out my makeshift Craig out of the bed and was a sleep by 6: 20! when 9:50 came around my wife woke me up with a "HAPPY EASTER!" and had me go on an "egg hunt" around our apartment. As you see from the video I was not all there and I had a hard time reading all of the clues! At the end of the "egg hunt" there were two groupons to a 9 hole golf course! It was awesome. You know some wives out there don't want their husbands playing golf all the time but mine embraces it!
We then went to Northview Bible Church for easter service and Norm Schwab preached out of Acts 3. His main part of his message was that we should obey God in terms of our call to repentance and following God's will and, are we praising God in the midsts of our trials?
After Church we went to two dinners! One with our couple friends, Chris and Julie Aurtry and Spencer and Mechenzie Mroczek. We then went to one of my professor's house for a BBQ. It was fun mingling with all of my classmates qhilw having my wife there!
Overall I say it was the best Easter EVER!!!
I was getting so frustrated working with an extremely exhausted and sleepy husband...he didn't read the clues in the rhyming swing I had wrote and my battery was dying. Therefore, I had to shut off the camera, assist him a bit, and then he proceeded with much success.
It's a bit hard to understand him as he reads the first letter and then the clues. In quote, "Happy 1st Easter - 2011 Style! We don't have eggs, we don't have a yard, so actually you won't have to look very hard. Instead of eggs you look for clues, they are written on paper in Easter color hues. They fit like a puzzle, they fit like a piece, so don't give up, don't cease. In the end you won't regret, so don't give up my precious pet. Clue #4 - Here lies all of the kind words we received for our wedding. Some included money $, some gift cards, some just words (boring!)
Clue #5 - I get so dirty when I bake and cook! My shirt gets all messy! I really should wear this to prevent that.

Craig and I have been keeping busy - a little too busy! We hardly see each other throughout the week and we long for our weekends, which begin on Saturday afternoons. I have been working more and more as the weather gets nicer and Craig has been really focused on his studies and winding down his classes for the semester. He was going to take an online class this summer but our finances didn't account for the expensive cost it would be so he will be taking the summer off, hopefully working more and gearing up for the fall! He only has one more year left and then who knows where the Lord will lead us. We are really enjoying Spokane and feel we can call it "home" now. We absolutely love our church and the friends we have made here. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways. Some of our favorite things to do here are go on walks to WinCo and the local coffee shop, find new restaurants to eat at, watch movies on Netflix, play one of our many board games we got for our wedding, hang out with the Mrozcek's, play racquetball, workout, and just exist together. Laughter really is the key to a healthy marriage! :]

I have never been one to celebrate this mysterious holiday (what are people even celebrating - the color green?!) but what I remember most from growing up is the breakfasts my sister and I would wake up to. My Mom would make the weirdest stuff green - like bananas! I chose to continue on the tradition this morning...
One thing I wish people would have told me before I got married was that it will be time to begin new traditions. [Maybe that should be my #6 on my list in the previous blog]. We got married in July and had to wait alllllll the way until Thanksgiving to realize holidays were going to be a bit different. We weren't able to make it home, which was a huge wake up call. "What! We can't go home! It won't feel like Thanksgiving then!" I came to realize that this feeling is a choice. I could chose to dwell in past turkey day traditions or strike a pose and make my own (I mean...our own!). It then came time for Christmas. If Thanksgiving wasn't a slap in the face this holiday sure was. Between our 4 combined jobs we were only able to get 72 hours off. We traveled home, raced around like crazy people, and traveled back all before the weekend ended (did we even remember what the holiday was all about?) I would lie in bed saddened that we weren't reading Christmas Bible stories together like Molly and I had growing up or that we didn't have an advent calendar to daily open up and find chocolates. I found myself getting really upset at the holiday and Craig. He tried so diligently to help me relive those traditions and it wasn't until after the holiday season that I came to realize we had the opportunity to start our own. We have to find the "Haskins Way" of doing things. It is exciting to think about our future children and to know we have the power in traditions - creating memorable and spiritual times for them around holidays, birthdays, etc. Did I make green eggs and milk for Craig because my Mom did? Yes! But that is one I want to hang on to!!
Now go drink some green beer, er, I mean soda pop!!!
We ordered this photo and haven't framed it yet, but we love how it captures the majesty of our special day. Craig received me July 24, 2010....hmmm....shall we call him a "wife-receiver" as opposed to a wide receiver. After all, I was always running full speed while we were dating, either towards him or away from him. He caught me and is aiming to protect me all the way. Don't wide receivers have to look at the ball all the way into their hands until they have it firmly grasped? They quickly tuck it into the crook of their arm and they keep looking at it until it is fully tucked. Finally, they look up and get set to run! (that is if they are not already smashed into the ground).
My best friend is getting married in 3 months and I cannot wait for her to experience the pure joy that comes from the first few months of marriage. Craig and I will always be newlyweds...I believe it's a feeling of choice and the idea of continually dating. How neat is it that God designed a man and woman so perfectly that they may balance each other out!
